Many property owners facing foreclosure find it impossible to communicate with appropriate lender representatives, and lenders find it difficult to obtain necessary information from borrowers. In many cases, the first opportunity the parties have to discuss the issues and attempt to resolve these matters is at a hearing on the lender’s Motion for Summary Judgment, or later at the foreclosure public sale. By that time, in most cases, all judicial labor has been expended and the costs and attorneys fees have significantly increased. The failure of the parties to communicate in a timely manner results in unnecessary waste of court resources and could be avoided by resolving these issues through mediation.
The Foreclosure Mediation Program is a nonprofit community cooperative effort to effectively connect available community resources to assist all parties involved in the foreclosure process. The borrower and lender will meet with a certified mediator with the goal of creating solutions and obtaining a mutually acceptable agreement.
The Seminole County Court, Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, has designated the Foreclosure Mediation Program to act as the administrator to schedule foreclosure mediations at the Seminole County Courthouse, 301 North Park Ave., 2nd floor north, Mediation Dept., Sanford, FL 32701 and at the office of the Foreclosure Mediation Program.
Borrowers / Homeowners must make sure that lenders have their most current telephone number and mailing address where they may be contacted. All financial information and documentation must be completed and provided as directed at least 14 days prior to mediation for adequate review by the lender.
To schedule mediations by email, please provide the county, case number, date, and time all parties are available to MediationFMP@fmpse.org and wait for email confirmation prior to sending Notice.
